Hi, I'm Kerry Denney, a 30-year veteran performing guitarist, songwriter, recording session artist, and writer of fantastic fiction. I'm passionate about many things in life, and reflect that in my work. With joy, determination, and a touch of madness (okay, okay, malicious glee), I write reality-bending thrillers, even when the voices don't make me do it. All my novels have a surreal, bizarre, supernatural, or paranormal element primary to the plot, and are all character-driven. My protagonists are my children, and I love them as dearly as I despise my antagonists. Even when I have to kill them.
My friends say that if I were rich, I'd be eccentric, but since I'm not rich, I'm just plain freakin' crazy. Sometimes I do cackle, which I'm told resembles screams from looming shadows that sound like rustling leaves blown by a brisk chill wind through a bleak deserted cemetery in the dead of the darkest winter's night. Or something similar. Either way, it's freaky as hell.
I'm featured as the Artist of the Week on weeklyartist.com for the week of November 22nd, 2010, so clicky on da linky, go there, and leave me some positive supportive comments! More legitimate credentials for prospective agents and publishers, yeah, baby... A sincere grateful thank you to all of you who shared encouraging remarks! Bless you!
I'm proud to announce that I won First Place in the Atlanta Writers Club Fall 2009 Poetry Contest for my entry On the Corner! Snoopy-dance with me...
Currently, I have six novels ready for publication, with viewing dates for three chapters of my fifth novel Soulsnatcher listed on the sidebar under "What's Happening Now?" with the links to the sites. These are legitimate publications, so read them and leave me some groovy feedback so agents and publishers will want to snatch me up so I can get them published! It's archived under my name, or the dates listed under "What's Happening Now?" in the Soulsnatcher Sneak Preview page. I am currently shopping for an agent for my most ambitious and intense project yet, a sci-fi/ horror novel entitled JAGANNATH. Check out the synopsis on the page bar above!
A very special thank you to all of you who wrote comments about Soulsnatcher on Yesteryearfiction.com and Weirdyear.com! Your support and encouragement is invaluable, greatly appreciated, and will not be forgotten. I've already reserved a spot for you all in my acknowledgments page when I get published.
Another very special thank you to writer/ publisher extraordinaire E.S. Wynn, site owner and editor of Yesteryearfiction.com, Weirdyear.com, weeklyartist.com, and Thunderune Publishing for publishing some of my work on the web. You rock, E!
I live near Stone Mountain, Georgia with my faithful friend and invaluable assistant Holly Jolly (she just turned four!). That's her in the photo beside me. She recently passed her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, administered by the American Kennel Club, and I'm training her to be a therapy dog -- mainly because she has more love to give than any dog I've ever seen, and I want to help her share it.
Kudos and a hearty cheer to the brilliant Carla Brooner for designing and building this site, and for the new photo. You rock, Carla! Holly wants to lick your feet. I think it's a fetish. Now let's get a shot where goofy looks at me like I've lost my mind. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
A final special thanks to brilliant writer and colleague Lauretta Hannon aka The Cracker Queen, friend and fellow writer Lynda Fitzgerald (LIVE Ringer), and all the great members of my writing critique group for their support, encouragement, and excellent advice. You guys are the shizzle!
Much love to all my fambly and frienz!
I look forward to your responses. Spread the word to your friends...
