Ingredients:
2 lbs. ground round or beef
1 lb. MAPLE sausage links, quartered ( a MUST!)
2 large onions, chopped (Vidalia is best but yellow is fine)
2 medium green peppers, chopped
3 cans (14.5 oz. each = 43.5 oz. total) diced tomatoes (thoroughly drained!)
4 cans (8 oz. each = 32 oz. total) tomato sauce
2 cans (6 oz. each = 12 oz. total) tomato paste
4 jars (4.5 oz. each = 18 oz. total) sliced mushrooms (thoroughly drained!)
one-half teaspoon black pepper
2 bay leaves
liberal dosages of minced garlic and oregano (to taste – I put lots of both!)
Cooking:
Brown beef & quartered sausage links, drain thoroughly.
Add all ingredients & simmer for 3 to 4 hours, stirring often (cooked when onions turn clear, the universal clue).
Serve over cooked spaghetti, vermicelli, or noodles with garlic bread.
Invite Andy Griffith over for dinner (you can invite family and friends too). Be sure to make people get on their knees and beg you and tell you how great and amazing and awesome you are before reluctantly sharing the recipe with them.
*not “fake” or “dream” spaghetti (specified because so many people say, “Is it real spaghetti, or just tomato sauce with meat?” Yes, it’s real spaghetti!)
